Mrs. Dale writes:
As soon as we were sure that Alec was out of danger I came back to Virginia Lodge. Alec's troubles were driven out of my mind by the pressing problem of our own future, as I found Jim was seriously considering the job at Exton. After a long talk we decided to go and have a look at the place on our own; we saw many things that stimulated and interested us, and some that depressed me! Perhaps I shall feel more decided one way or the other after our official visit. Whatever happens, I don't want to discourage Jim or make his decision more difficult.
