Inn, and we hear a discussion between
William Blower , a prosperous farmer and local 'know-all,' and Joshua Scrimp , who combines the duties of market gardener and insurance agent in the village.
In Scene 2 we are introduced to the Council
Chamber, where a heated discussion is in progress regarding the fire-engine.
