Following the publication of the official history of the strategic air offensive against Germany, Professor Jones, who during the war was responsible for the investigation of the German night defences, reflects on the scientific aspects of the offensive. He analyses his conclusion that while scientific considerations were undoubtedly important they were not invariably the major factor in arriving at decisions of policy.
