Soon after HRH Princess Anne presented the trophy to the winning team of the Nations Cup at Hickstead last Sunday, the mass exodus of riders, horses, grooms and all the paraphernalia of a modern major sporting occasion began to move from Sussex to London. At 9.30 this morning the 51st Royal International was under way-and what a challenge lies ahead for the assembled stars of international show jumping as they face another five days of intense competition which include the rewards of some of the most coveted titles in the world.
