Brooklyn Bridges
Five programmes about Brooklyn.
3: Planet Brooklyn. Wave after wave of immigrants have set up shop - and stoop - in Brooklyn. Tim Marlow examines how different communities have left their mark on the borough, from the Russians who have turned the Brighton Beach area into "Little Odessa" to the Caribbean and African-American communities in areas like Brownsville faced with "white flight" and its attendant social pressures. The programme examines initiatives to establish a wider, more cohesive identity in a culture where the neighbourhood is fiercely demarcated and defended.
