In the first programme of a new series of Vintage Years, David Mellor talks to John Willan , former record producer and one-time manager of the London Philharmonic, about his close friendship with the German conductor Klaus Tennstedt. After emigrating from his native East
Germany, Tennstedt made a name for himself particularly as a conductor of Mahler, a composer with whom he identified. Recordings conducted by Tennstedt feature:
