In Search of Lucian Freud

on BBC Radio 3

My work is purely autobiographical. It is about myself and my surroundings. It is an attempt at a record. I work from the people that interest me and that I care about and think about, in rooms that I live in and know.
Lucian Freud 's portraits are among the most powerful contemporary images. Frank Whitford , tutor in the Department of Cultural Studies, Royal College of Art, presents a documentary portrait of a very private artist whose work goes on public exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in London from Thursday.
