ScreenStory: Peter the Great

A four-part Emmy Award-winning production telling the story of Russia's greatest Tsar. Starring
2: Locked in a loveless marriage, the only joy of which is the birth of a son and heir, Peter uses the disastrous campaign against the Turks to stifle Sophie's scheming. Renewing the conflict years later he proves himself a ruthless warrior and, at Azov, comes the fateful meeting with the beautiful Catherine. Peter's eyes turn to the West but, for a visionary ruler of a traditional people, the flames of dissidence continue to smoulder.
