Among the speed records held by Great Britain is that of the world's 'start-to-stop' express train. Known the world over as 'The Cheltenham Flyer,' this particular locomotive is accelerated between Swindon and Paddington to cover the distance of 77 1/4 miles at an average speed of 71.3 m.p.h., covering the distance in 65 minutes. Starting from Cheltenham, it makes its first stop at Gloucester, from which station a commentary on its arrival and departure will be given by Mr. K.W.C. Grand.
