International Football:
England v West Germany, an under-23 match from Filbert Street, Leicester, which kicks off Sir Alf Ramsey's English International season. In five previous meetings England have won three times. West Germany won in Freiberg in 1965. and the first clash in 1959 ended in a 2-2 draw. Last season England's 1974 World Cup hopefuls won all four of their matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding only two.

International Boxing: Scotland v Denmark from Govan Town Hall, Glasgow
Tom Imrie, light-middleweight Gold Medal hero at the recent Commonwealth Games, is selected in a strong Scottish team. Denmark have beaten Scotland twice in the last three meetings.
