Operation Cave Rescue

on BBC One London

A documentary by Don Haworth.

The film is a factual record of what happens when the teams of a Cave Rescue Organisation go into action below ground.

Beneath the limestone hills of Yorkshire lie many miles of caves, a maze of passages and pitches, torrents and underground lakes. It is a fascinating world to explore; it can also be a very dangerous one.

Rescue work in the caves is heavy manual labour often done in places so constricted that many people would not be able to move at all. It needs the lifting strength of a docker, the agility of an athlete, the gentleness and patience of a saint. No man has all these qualities. A rescue team collectively must have them.
