Dame Katherine Furse , who gives it, has been Assistant Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides since 1922 ; she was Director of the Women's Royal Naval Service from 1917 to 1919, and in the earlier days of the war she was a pioneer organizer of the V.A.D.
