Play for Today: Soft Targets

on BBC One London

by STEPHEN POLIAKOFF starring with Helen Mirren
Nigel Havers and Celia Gregory
Alexei's life as a minor Russian diplomat in London starts changing wildly one Sunday morning as he goes about his mostly innocent routine. Suddenly he is flailing in a new world of instant parties, society weddings in obscure places, unsettling pursuits and baffling women. What do they all want from him; why is he being followed -or is it really Alexei himself who is doing the chasing? This is Stephen Poliakoff 's first television film since the celebrated Caught on a Train.
