The Wooldridge View

on BBC One London

To the Limit and Beyond The house lights dim, the band strikes 'Hearts of oak', and two spotlights suddenly pierce downwards on to the sailors marching, arms interlocked, faces tensely set, into the arena. It is one of the highlights of the London season: the Royal Navy's field-gun competition at the Royal Tournament - shown here as it celebrated its centenary year in 1979.
