Automation will produce a great increase in the national wealth. Our task is to build a society adjusted to the idea of being affluent. At present our thinking and planning are greatly handicapped by prejudices which make it difficult to imagine a society so rich that it can provide adequate comfort and opportunities for all its citizens. It is a fundamental error to regard the problems of today as a basis for our plans for tomorrow.
