Festival of Baroque Music 1993

on BBC Radio 3

Monteverdi's Orfeo is not really an opera but a "favola in musica" - a fable set to music. Nevertheless,
Monteverdi drew on all his rich experience as a madrigal composer to create a compellingly dramatic version of the ancient myth. Presented by Donald Macleod. Sung in Italian.
