The old raven Dudu had been right in saying that springtime was near, for very soon the snow, lying so thickly over the garden of the chateau, melted away and was gone. Before long little Jeanne and her cousin Hugh were finding snowdrops and crocuses in the green grass where lately the snow had been; and when rhe blackbirds and thrushes began waking the children each morrwng with cheerful singing, they knew for certain that winter had left them at last, and that now it really and truly was— spring! f
