When the Duke of Burgundy agrees to a marriage between his ward Isabelle, and the ageing Lord Crawford, the Lord sends his nephew,
Quentin Durward , to advance his suit. But Durward soon finds Isabelle has a mind of her own and has no wish to be used as a pawn in the intrigue of Burgundy and the scheming King Louis XI of France.
