Sheridan Morley presents tonight's edition which samples some of the main attractions in the 27th London Film Festival, including five 'lost' Hitchcocks (Rear Window, Vertigo, The Trouble with Harry, Rope and The Man who Knew Too Much), and the new restored complete version of George Cukor's A Star is Born with Judy Garland.
Ken Wlaschin includes in his last year as festival director new films from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa, as well as the latest crop from the resurgent British cinema. Stars and directors from around the world and lectures and seminars on the art of film seem set to make this the most ambitious festival yet mounted at the National Film Theatre.
