Artist of the Week

on BBC Radio 3

Murray Perahia
Described as one of music's natural poets, Murray Perahia talks to Joan Bakewell about his early days in America, where he started playing the piano at the age of four. At 24, he won the prestigious Leeds
International Piano Competition, and even though engagements flowed in following this success, life was not always easy. Featured music includes excerpts from the Grieg and Chopin piano concertos and Perahia's very first venture in the recording studio - chamber music by Mozart. Producer Gwawr Owen
