John Mearns , MBE - awarded in 1976 for his service to the community and for his efforts in preserving the folk songs of north-east Scotland. His job was salesman to the farming world and their music and customs became his passion. In between times he was also Master of Ceremonies at the agricultural shows, ran his own concert party and became one of the most prolific broadcasters from BBC
