Felix White is London born and at five started learning the piano under his mother's guidance. In all other musical respects he is practically self-taught. He made his debut as a composer with an overture, ' Shy-lock ', which Sir Henry Wood played at the Promenade concerts. Sir Hubert Parry took a kindly interest in the young composer, and this resulted in the performance of several orchestral and chamber works by the Royal College of Music Patron's Fund.
As repetiteur Felix White worked for four successive seasons with Sir Thomas Beecham at Covent Garden, and for three years was a member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the piano, harpsichord, and celesta.
