Chamber Music

on BBC Radio 3

A historical survey of chamber music from 1600 to the present day.
4: Beethoven Last Quartet
ROGER FISKE devotes the whole broadcast to this one work, Op 135 in F. Although short and seemingly lighthearted, this quartet is a fascinating example of the composer's craftsmanship. The many themes and the highly individual way in which they are treated in the four short movements make an enjoyable and rewarding study.
