Although it would be misleading to suggest that Arvo Part 's music is "Estonian", it is unlikely that his musical identity could have emerged from anywhere else. Part himself remarks that whilst his musical education was western, his spiritual education has been eastern, and this perhaps is one means of understanding Part's artistic vision. Today David James of the HiHiard Ensemblejoins Donald
Macleod to discuss how the call of home influences Arvo Part and his work.
