on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

Talk by Dr. W. V. Lambert
Dr. Lambert, Dean of Nebraska Agricultural College, is one of three American scientists who visited British Colonies in Africa on ,a special mission for the Marshall Plan and the Colonial Office. Their purpose was to collect information as a basis for recommending the kind of research programmes that might be undertaken under E.C.A. to bring forward the undeveloped territories. These research programmes are part of the schemes envisaged in the ' Fourth Point.' In this talk, recorded before he returned to the United States, Dr. Lambert gives his impressions of the work being carried out by the Colonial Office to increase agricultural productivity in Africa, and of the problems that make it so difficult.
