A radio portrait written and narrated by VALERIE GEORGESON with Caroline John as Sévérine and Philip Madoc as Valles Severine 's real name was
Caroline Remy. She was born in 1855 and died in 1929. She became one of France's leading journalists, fighting, among other things, to defend Dreyfus. Such was her fame that when she died 2,000 people followed her coffin.
