There cannot be very many parts of the globe that still remain totally unexplored, but such territory exists in the Eastern Himalayas in an area bordering on the Subansiri River known as the Agla Marra. Three of the men best qualified to speculate what lies inside it are :
F. Kingdon-Ward, o.b.e. who approached it from Tibet in the course of a plant-hunting expedition
Professor von Furer-Haimendorf an anthropologist of the School of Oriental and African Studies, who was sent there by the Government of India as a special officer in the Subansiri area in 1944 and Colonel Betts who was appointed first political officer in that area following Professor Haimendorf's expedition in 1946 Chairman,
