Johan Feltkamp (flute)
Symphony Orchestra of I.N.R., Belgium
Conducted by Franz-André and Daniel Sternefeld
At the 24th Festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music, now being held in Brussels, recordings are to be made of several of the works performed, so it is hoped that listeners in this country will eventually hear them, in addition to the works broadcast tonight.
Karl Amadeus Hartmann was born in 1905 at Munich. Among his compositions are a Miserae for orchestra, a string quartet (which won first prize in an international competition in 1936), a chamber opera, and various symphonic works.
Hans Henkemans is a Dutch composer, bom in 1913, who studied with Willem Pijper. He began his career as a doctor of medicine, but now devotes all his time to music, as pianist and composer. His Flute Concerto was written for Johan Feltkamp.
