By Bernard Kops. Willis O'Brien created life from lifelessness using the painstaking art of stop-motion animation. By 1933, his work achieved immortality as audiences were enthralled by his greatest creation, King Kong. Like Kong, O'Brien ruled supreme in his own imaginary kingdom, but he was powerless to control the tragic events of his own life.
