Albert Sammons (violin). BBC Symphony Orchestra (leader, Paul Beard ), conducted by Malcolm Sargent Clive Douglas is an Australian composer whose home is in Tasmania. His music is essentially national ; in his symphonic sketches ' Carwoola ' he sets out to paint the Australian bush scene. The word Carwoola, by the way, is a name given by the aborigines to a secluded part of the bush unvisited by any tribe. ' Here ', says one commentator, ' the guardian spirits meet in secret and hold council to guide the destinies of the brave '. ' Carwoola ' was performed at a Promenade Concert last June. 7.52 app. Interval
