Dr Dvorak in the New World

on BBC Radio 4 FM

In the autumn of 1892 Dvorak, already a world-famous composer, accepted an invitation to become head of the National Conservatoire of Music in New York. It was while he was in America that he wrote his Symphony No 9 in E minor. Z Noveho Sveta - From the New World-perhaps rather ' Impressions and Greetings from the New World.'
