Match of the Day Live

on BBC One London

AS Roma v Leeds United
Live coverage of this evening's
Uefa Cup second-round, first-leg match from the Olympic Stadium. in Rome (kickoff at 7.45pm). Leeds endured the drama of a penalty shootout against
Maritimo of Portugal to land this potentially difficult second-round clash with the club that finished fourth in Italy's Serie A last season. United's preparations will not have been helped by the recent disruption brought about by the departure of manager
George Graham and the search for his successor. A disciplined performance will be required tonight, especially if Leeds are to secure any away goals that can so often prove vital in European competition.
Roma comfortably overcame
Danish side Silkeborg 3-0 on aggregate in their first-round tie and can boast a formidable multi-national squad that includes two stars of Brazil's
France 98 World Cup party-Cafu and Aldair.
Both clubs' only previous
European successes have been in this competition, under its original title of the Fairs Cup-Leeds won the trophy on two occasions, in 1968 and 1971, while Roma fans have to look back as far as 1961 for their team's only triumph.
