Project Tidepower

on BBC One London

History is being made in north-western France this summer where for the first time ever electricity is being generated at a power station driven by the tides.
Introduced by Anthony Smith.
For centuries men have dreamed of harnessing the power of the tides. Now at last large-scale tidal power has become a practical idea. Cameras of the French Television Service visit the unique tidal power station now in the final stages of construction across the estuary of the river Ranee.
