Mrs. Freeman accompanied Maud French to their old school reunion; while they were there, Mrs. Freeman was surprised to discover that Maud had asked an old school friend to accompany her on a trip to Italy to stay at Elsie's villa. Later the friend decided she couldn't go, and Maud asked Mrs. Freeman to go instead. Mrs. Dale went to see Ian McNeil , against Dr. Dale's wishes; McNeil told her he was going to leave Parkwood Hill. Janet caused a great deal of alarm by leaving home without telling anyone where she was going. In fact, she had gone to King's Acre, but she let no-one but Carlton know that she was there.
