In Belloc's Footsteps

on BBC Radio 4 FM

In 1901 Hilaire Belloc embarked on a walking pilgrimage to Rome in search of the cement that held Europe together. One hundred years later actor Philip McGough , armed with Belloc's book The Path to Rome, sets off on the same journey through France, Switzerland and Italy. He talks to people along the way and explores whether Belloc's reflections have any relevance to today's Europeans. Producer Tony Grant
