A portrait of Robert Raikes , a founder of the Sunday School movement, compiled by BRIAN SIBLEY with Two hundred years ago Sunday Schools were started to provide religious instruction to the children of the poor; but their effect was far greater, because from these institutions grew the concept of general education for all.
