On the Fringe

on BBC Radio 4 FM

University Revue at this year's Edinburgh Festival Cambridge University Theatre Group and The Footlights Radio Show
With Sarah Dunant, Simon Jones, Steve Thorn, Rob Whitehouse, Paul Wolfson
Written by Steve Thorn, Paul Wolfson and Peter Tyson
Although it was the Theatre Group from 'the Other Place' which first brought a revue to the Edinburgh Festival - and began the 'Fringe Festival' - it was almost certainly the success of Beyond the Fringe from Cambridge that drew attention to the venture.
Shows such as I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again and Monty Python 's Flying Circus owe much of their origins to an Edinburgh production. Next week Oxford presents a revue of a different colour.
