The scene is a corner of an old, old garden, surrounded -by an ancient briek wall. Beyond the wall, outside the garden, is a venerable oak which looks down genially on the riot of colour within ; for the garden is crowded with all the flowers that bloom in early summer.
The characters are : and a chorus of the voices of flowers, birds and insects
