Radio-Isotopes for Industry by Henry Seligman Ph.D. , Head of the Isotope Division
Atomic Energy
Research Establishment, Harwell
In a few years large quantities of radio-isotopes will become available as ' waste products' from nuclear power stations. But they will not be thrown away as scrap. Dr. Seligman explains how research has already shown that they can be used to improve plastics, to vulcanise rubber, to sterilise hospital equipment, to make vaccines safe, to give food a longer storage life, and even to produce better strains of barley.
