5: Versailles
The magnificent gardens at Versailles were developed in the grounds of Louis XIV's great chateau and were the setting for a series of extremely elaborate and expensive entertainments, many of them with music provided by the king's favourite composer, Jean-Baptiste Lully. Music includes:
