Three Great Stars: Adam's Rib

on BBC One London

[Starring] Spencer Tracy
The films of three great screen actors - Clark Gable, Tyrone Power, and, here, Spencer Tracy with Katharine Hepburn and Judy Holliday, Tom Ewell, David Wayne
The battle of the sexes has never been funnier than this confrontation in the long-standing Tracy-Hepburn partnership. As Adam and Amanda Bonner - both lawyers - they find themselves on opposite sides of the courtroom in a case involving a jealous wife who has shot her husband. But when Amanda bases her defence on the equality of the sexes, she finds the courtroom battle shifting to her own home - and no holds barred!
Judy Holliday, in her screen debut, gives a delightful comedy performance as the 'wronged woman.' Two years later she was to win an Oscar for her 'not-so-dumb' blonde characterisation in Born Yesterday
