Mrs. Mountford offered Dr. Gardiner the money needed for the Nursing Home, but Dr. Dale was against acceptance and Dr. Gardiner eventually realised that if Mrs. Mountford had any connection with the Home she would make life impossible. Captain got out of the Chinese vase; Bob sold it for sixteen pounds and Mrs. Dale decided to use the money to help Mrs. Leathers. David heard of a flat in Battersea, but Gwen did not feel very enthusiastic about it.
