Two years ago Percy Manchester, a serious singer of distinction who specialised in Bach and Beethoven, decided to go in for. light entertainment. From 1929 onwards he sang regularly at the Three Choirs Festivals ; for three years played leads at Sadler's Wells ; sang for years at the Proms and the principal tenor roles in Royal Albert Hall productions ... and then suddenly and unexpectedly appeared in a summer show at Blackpool, On with the Show.
He first broadcast with Troise in March this year, and has sung on the air in ' The Table under the Tree ', ' Songs you might never have heard ', ' Band Box', and Music-Hall. He sings in six languages.
