On the School Beat

on BBC Radio 4 FM

PC Simon Towers isn't an ordinary sort of police officer. His patch - Chipping Norton School in Oxfordshire - isn't a usual kind of beat. One of a pioneering breed of school-based police officers, he is a friend, confidante, advisor even teacher as well as a law enforcer. This programme follows PC Towers in ajob that may call on him to deal with violence, vandalism and petty crime -but is more likely to involve anything from helping pupils cope with the death of a classmate to catching an escaped South American rhea from a local farm.
