A satirical dialogue on Free Will and Providence by Lucian of Samosata
Translated by Peter Green
Lucian was born at Samosata on the Euphrates early in the second century A.D. He used the satiric dialogue, a form which he did much to establish, to criticise both popular notions of Olympian religion and the sterile arguments of contemporary Sophistic philosophers.
