The latter part of Berlioz's life was overshadowed by his increasing bitterness at the lack of recognition for his work, particularly for his great opera The Trojans. in today's programme, given live by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, lain Burnside traces that last period in Berlioz's life, ending with a performance of his most famous work, which more than any other sums up the unique individuality of this most romantic of composers.
