This year London's Marquee Club celebrates its 30th anniversary. Most major British rock musicians have played there, either as unknowns or well-knowns. In the first of three programmes, John Walters looks at the early years when, for five shillings, you could take your pick of the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds with Eric Clapton or Manfred Mann plus a support band, which could well include some new chap called Elton John.
