All Quiet on the Preston Front

on BBC One London

Some people go to the DIY superstore at the weekend. Others cover themselves in fronds of bracken and wade through mud. This new six-part comedy drama series is about a group of those who choose the second option - part-time soldiers in the Territorial Army. Men and women, teachers and shop assistants, bonded together by a sense of adventure and humour.

Writer Tim Firth scripted the Screen One film Money for Nothing, shown in the autumn, and has a sitcom starring Bernard Hill coming up, Once Upon a Time in the North.

In the first episode, the lifelong friendship between Hodge and Eric is threatened by the arrival of Laura, who sings in the local Chinese restaurant.
