Radio 1 Mailbag

on BBC Radio 1 England

Anne Nightingale features listeners' letters on almost any subject.
Here are two recent letters to Mailbag, both from male listeners:
"Women are equal (almost) to men. so why shouldn't they be conscripted? The author of last week's junk of telephonic bigotry seemed to think that women should do the safer jobs, such as being radar operators, whilst their 'equals' are out on the front lines lugging guns and having their heads blown off. She wants equality as long as she doesn't get hurt. Hypocrite!"
"I like the idea of this current wave of men looking feminine, wearing more adventurous and less conventional clothes, eyeliner and blusher. I think it's easy to criticise the outspoken and the outrageous, but it's about time the nondescript, straight and conventional bands and people were put down as well."
The Mailbag phone-line [number removed] is open every Wednesday from 7.0 until 10.0 pm
