A two-part drama tracing the youthful escapades of the member of an American dynasty who became 36th President of the United States.
"It's us against the world," was the motto of the head of the Irish-Catholic family and business empire, Joe Kennedy Sr. In his son Jack the fighting spirit was reflected in a determination to live life to the full, especially as far as women were concerned.
In 1937 Joe Sr was appointed US ambassador to Great Britain, and Jack came to learn the nature of Nazi tyranny. This led him to support America's entry into the war, but Joe Sr remained an isolationist, bringing the two into conflict. The conflict increased when Jack planned to marry Danish journalist Inga Arvad, and Joe Sr informed him she was a German spy.
The concluding part is tomorrow at 9.30pm.
